Laura was born on November 8, 1918 in Paola, KS to Herman and Lena (Prothe) Koelsch, the youngest of five girls. She was baptized and confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Block where she was a faithful member her entire life. On Nov. 11, 1939 she married Erwin Ohlmeier and they were blessed with three children. Erwin preceded her in de Erwin preceded her in death on March, 1980. Laura was a devoted wife and mother. She helped Erwin in farming, was a 4-H leader, Ladies Aide member and also cared for her mother for many years. Laura was employed at the State Hospital Dietary Department until her retirement. As she was still an active person, she enjoyed her grandkids, gardening, canning what she had grown, quilting, crocheting, playing pitch and visiting with her many friends and neighbors. Some of her favorite things were cooking Sunday lunch for the entire family, including making noodles and coffee cakes, cookies, and candy. She loved to share with everyone she knew or met. Her very best memory was her 92nd birthday in November; her neighbors came with ice cream and cake to help celebrate. On another day, the Ladies Aide group came to help her celebrate, along with several nieces. She was so excited on each of those days. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Erwin Ohlmeier; and her sisters, Lilie Nevius, Esther Scheer, Alma Herrs, and Mildred Windler. She is survived by her children; son, Lloyd Ohlmeier and wife Karen; daughter, Helen White and husband Bill; and daughter, Elaine Stewart and husband Dannie; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all whoever met and knew her.
