Laura Osburn, 66, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away on Saturday August 24th, 2024.
Laura’s graveside memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., September 13, 2024 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa, KS.
Laura was born on October 1st, 1957, at Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of William L. “Bill” Osburn and Margaret Rosalie (Feren) Osburn. Laura graduated from Ottawa High school in 1975.
Laura worked at the family florist business during her school years and afterwards. She served her country in the air force from January, 1977 to December, 1980. Her remaining years were spent as a Community Corrections Officer. She was an amazing mentor and leader to others. Laura retired from her position as the Lead Community Corrections Officer at the Department of Corrections for Washington State in July of 2022. Laura lived in Port Orchard, Washington but moved back to Ottawa, Kansas after her retirement.
Laura accomplished many achievements during her life. Some of her accomplishments include playing softball for People’s National Bank, competing in horse shows at the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit, and competing in registered quarter horse shows. Laura was an excellent cook and loved to host dinners for family and friends. Laura loved to travel and was able to visit many different countries during her lifetime.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents, William “Bill” and Margaret “Rosie” Osburn; infant sister, Linda Osburn; and uncle, James “Jimmy” Osburn.
Laura is survived by her brother, Michael Osburn; niece, Aubriana Jones; niece, Ashley Mijangos; one grandniece; and four grandnephews.
Laura had a huge heart and would selflessly help anyone she could. She had many friends who loved her dearly. She was a special woman and will be missed very much by all her friends and family.
