Laura Amalia (Reight) Waskowitz, age 84, passed away on Thursday, February 2. 2023.
Cremation has taken place, and private family services will be held.
Laura was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Thursday, August 25, 1938 to John Kenneth and Amalia (Jaketic) Reight. Laura grew up and lived in Pittsburgh most of her life. Laura married Adrian “Ace” Waskowitz on September 12, 1960. They were happily married for 62 years.
Laura was loved by many. She lit up any room and elevated people’s spirits with her presence. She dedicated her life to her friends and family, and enjoyed preparing meals with her kin and teaching how to cook, often making it a family activity. Laura was a talented artist and had a passion for music. She loved to sing along to her favorite songs and would always live in the moment. Although experienced in age, she lived her life as if she was young. Laura loved animals. She owned and loved every pet she had, especially her dog Rocky. Her favorite animal was the giraffe, and similarly, she would always keep her head up high. She enjoyed traveling and seeing the world. She enjoyed befriending people on her travels and learning about their respective cultures and traditions. She felt calm while immersed with nature, and loved the world for which it was naturally, including all landscapes and populations.
If one thing is for certain, the love she spread throughout the world will have an everlasting effect on the people that were lucky enough to be around her. She will be missed, but lives on through everyone she had a bond with. The love she sent out, will be passed on again and again in her honor.
Laura is proceeded in death by her parents Ken and Amalia, and siblings John Kenneth Wright, Jr., Norma (Wright) Grant, Helene (Wright) Leidke, Lois Wright, Thomas Greggory (Gregg) Reight.
Our beloved Laura “Bubbie” is survived by her husband Adrian; her daughter Anne Naulty (William); her son Kenneth Waskowitz; her grandchildren Amanda (Naulty) Armendariz (Christopher), Brittany Naulty, Eric Naulty, Lauren Naulty; her great-grandchildren Zachary, Adrianna, Michael Armendariz; her brother William Reight (Helen); sister-in-law Linda Reight; and her Nephew Ian Reight (Jeanette).
