Laun grew up in Silver Creek, Nebraska. He also lived in San Diego, California, moving to Columbus, Nebraska in 1955, then to Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1960, he moved to London, England; 1962, Athens, Greece; 1965, Tokyo, Japan; 1968, Culpeper, Virginia; 1969, Silver Creek, Nebraska; 1971, Lyons, Nebraska; 1974, North Bend, Nebraska; 1983, Gladstone, Missouri; and 2007, Wellsville, Kansas. Laun graduated from Silver Creek (Nebraska) High School with the class of 1951. He was employed as dispatcher for Nebraska State Highway Patrol; communication technician for the United States Government in 1958; and communication technician for AT&T, retiring in 1990. He served in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1955 as 2nd Class Radioman. He was a member of Communication Workers of America Union; Veterans of Foreign Wars of Gladstone, Missouri; Jaycee`s of Lyons, Nebraska; and volunteer firefighter in North Bend, Nebraska. Laun was a loyal American, faithful husband, good father, trusted friend --- we`ll miss you ! On February 13, 1958, Laun was united in marriage with Virginia Sue Dilley in Columbus, Nebraska. She preceded him in death on July 18, 2000. SERVICES: Memorial Services will be held from the A. J. Merrick Manor Chapel in Fremont, Nebraska, at 11:00am on Saturday, September 1, 2007.
