Larry R. Rhodes, age 75, of Osawatomie, Kansas, passed away peacefully at home on March 10, 2016 with his family by his side. Larry was born June 6, 1940 in Miami County, Kansas. He was the third of four children born to Clarence "Dusty" and Helen (Barden) Rhodes. He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1958. Larry was united in marriage to Vicki Marvin on August 30, 1963. They made their home in Merriam and later moved to Grandview before settling in Osawatomie in 1966. Vicki preceded him in death in 2005. Larry worked for Kansas City Power and Light as a lineman. He worked for Kansas City Power and Light 29 years, retiring in 2000. He then went to work for the City of Osawatomie as an electrician for several years after retiring. Larry was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, Elks BPOE #921 in Osawatomie and the Osawatomie Golf Course. He enjoyed traveling and spent his winters as a snowbird in Texas with his companion Lynda Cole. The most important thing to Larry was his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one brother James Rhodes. He is survived by his children Robin (Doug) Crockett of Emporia, Robert Rhodes of San Bernadino, CA, Randy (Lorrie) Rhodes of Olathe, and Brian Rhodes of New Orleans, LA; his companion Lynda Cole of Osawatomie and her two daughters Anne-Marie (Steve) Short of Lansing and Karla (Jim) Holiday of Louisburg; two sisters Doris (Howard) Wilson of Garnett and Linda (John) Haskins of Osawatomie; his mother-in-law JoeAnne Myers of Kansas City, KS; his sisters-in-law Connie (Ken) Attebery of Osawatomie, Dixie (Jerry) Hall of Overland Park, KS, Tina (John) Horsley of Overland Park, KS, and Patty Morgan of Kansas City, KS; two brothers-in-law Raymond (Vickie) Marvin of Westin, MO and Rick (Nita) Marvin of Ottawa, KS; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
