Larry Louis Jackson, 81, of Kansas City, Missouri, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Larry was born Thursday, September 18, 1941, in Madrid, Nebraska, the son of C. Louis and Eileen (Glendening) Jackson. The family lived in Madrid until moving to Parker, Kansas, where he graduated from high school in 1959. He remained close to many of his classmates until his passing and loved to tell stories of his high school days.
He was united in marriage to J. Lorene Brownback on October 1, 1961. They moved to Ottawa, Kansas in 1974 with their two sons, Brad and Eric, where they farmed many acres. He loved his time on the farm, raising cattle and working the fields. They resided there before selling the farm and moving west of Ottawa where Larry and Lorene would later divorce.
Larry started work at General Motors Fairfax, Kansas City, Kansas, in 1964. He started on the line and eventually moved up to general foreman over the body shop before retiring in 1998. He would always talk about it being “not bad” for a kid from Parker, Kansas. Larry loved telling stories about his time at Generous Motors as he called it.
While at General Motors, he met the love of his life and partner until the end, Patricia Reinoso. Pat and Larry enjoyed spending their time at Smithville Lake with family and friends, traveling around the United States and taking cruises. They also enjoyed trips to Florida and Texas to spend the winter and traveling to see family.
Larry loved to invest in the stock market. It had become a passion of his and he felt it was a way to keep his mind sharp and keep up with the latest trends. He also enjoyed sports and attended many KU basketball games and was a Kansas City Chiefs season ticket holder for many seasons.
He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them. Larry had a lot of extended family as well. He loved people no matter their race, religion, or political preference. Larry knew no stranger and was not afraid of change.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, C. Louis and Eileen Jackson; sister, Linda Smith; and brother, George Jackson.
Survivors include his two sons, Brad Jackson (Susan) and Eric Jackson (Tracy) both of Ottawa, Kansas; his partner until the end, Patricia Reinoso of Kansas City, Missouri; her four sons, Jason Reinoso (Nancy) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Mark Reinoso (Dulce) of Orange County, California, Patrick Reinoso (Martha) of Alta Loma, California, Chris Reinoso of Vacaville, California; sister, Jane Mayes (Harold) of Belton, Missouri; nineteen grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
