Larry G. Fort

Larry G. Fort, of Edgerton, KS., 67 years of age, born December 29, 1941, passed away, June 23, 2009, at the Olathe Medical Center. Larry was born in Ottawa, KS. to George and Evelyn (Seck) Fort. He was raised in Paola KS., where he attended Holy Trinity grade school, and Paola High School, graduating in 1959. On June 15, 1963, he married Shirley Atterbery, in Paola, KS. He worked for Phillips Pipeline until 1968, and then went to work for KCPL, where he worked as a lineman until his retirement, in 2005. Survived by wife Shirley (Atterbery) Fort, and 3 children, son, Raymond (Nikki) Fort, of Pueblo, CO., daughter, Teresa (Robert) Chancellor, of Spring Hill, KS., and daughter, Jenny (Keith) Klamm, of Wellsville, KS., 3 grandsons, and 4 granddaughters, the joy of his life, his mother, Evelyn Fort, of Paola, KS., 2 sisters, Nancy Burton, of Mound City, KS., Dee Ann Baker, of Overland Park, KS., and one brother, Jay Fort, of Shawnee, KS. He is preceded in death by his father, George Fort. Larry was a big KU and Wellsville High School sports fan. He enjoyed golf, his many friends, and spending time with his grandkids. Rosary will be 6:00 PM, June 25, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Paola, KS. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 26, 2009, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, burial, Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Wellsville Athletic Department, or American Heart Association.
