Larry Eugene McMechan, 67, of Princeton, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center. Cremation is planned. Family and friends will gather at Princeton Community Building, 11:00 A.M. Friday, October 11, 2013, to celebrate Larry’s life. Larry was born on Thursday, October 11, 1945 in Tonganoxie, Kansas. He was the son of Clarence and Vera (Kramer) McMechan, Jr., the fourth of twelve children. Larry was a longtime Douglas County, Lawrence, Kansas resident, moving to Franklin County where he lived in Lane and Princeton since 2010. He graduated from Linwood High School, Linwood, Kansas, with the class of 1963. Larry’s first marriage to Shirley Jones in 1966, ended in divorce. He married Madona Burmmer, they later divorced. Survivors include his three children, Rhonda McMechan of Ottawa, Ronald McMechan of Princeton, and Robin Wilson and husband Brian of Princeton; five grandchildren, Craig McMechan, Richard, Aaron and Troy Wilson, and Chelsea Johnson; six great grandchildren, Gabe and Gavin McMechan, Lilly and Mira Wilson, and Kylee and Oren Johnson; siblings, Wilma Hall and husband Gene, Stanley McMechan and wife Donna all of Lawrence, Donald McMechan and wife Carolyn of South Greenfield, Missouri, Marilyn Burns, Leland McMechan and wife Janelle, Sherry Feurt and husband James, and Clinton McMechan and wife Nancy all of Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Wesley, Carl, Glen and Gene McMechan. Larry worked many years as a truck driver, Lawrence Ready Mix, City of Ottawa, and Hillside Salvage in Lawrence. He was a former member of the Aerie Lodge #309, Fraternal Order of Eagles, of Lawrence. An online Guest Book is available at www.dengelmortuary.com.
