Larry Dayton Matile, 58, of Ottawa, Kansas passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God, Ottawa, 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 11, 2013. Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Matile at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. Saturday, and 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, to the service hour where the family will meet with friends from 2:00 to 3:00 P.M. Sunday. Interment Wellsville Cemetery, Wellsville, Kansas. Larry was born on Saturday, March 19, 1955 in Ottawa, the son of Dayton and Jean (Murdock) Matile. He was a lifelong Franklin County resident growing up in Wellsville and moving in 1988 to Ottawa. He graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1973. On August 25, 1994 Larry was united in marriage with Vicki Webb in Ottawa. She survives of their home. Survivors also include his five children, Luke Matile and wife Shirley of Pomona, Kyle Matile and wife Karrie of Princeton, Stephanie Mitchell and husband Dustan of Ottawa, Skye Dixon and wife Stephanie of Post Oak, Missouri, and Dusty Dixon of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren, Hannah, Carly, Kaylor, Kinzie, Ryan, Regan, Trace, Ben, and Lincoln; mother, Jean Matile of Wellsville; siblings, Lynn Matile of Merriam, Lois Zelinski of Olathe, Allen Matile of Ottawa, Don Matile and wife Judy of Colorado, Bill Matile and ]Brenda of Ottawa, Bob Matile of Parker, Kansas, and Laura Matile Bishop and husband Tony of Wellsville; and twelve nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Dayton Matile. Larry has been employed by the City of Ottawa for 31 years with the Street Department. Since August 2009 he has held the position of superintendent. He was also a farmer and stockman. Larry loved his family and cherished their time spent together. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and coffee time with friends at Princeton Quick Stop. He also enjoyed watching black and white westerns, college and pro-football, college basketball, especially KU and K-State.
