Larry Dean Brewer passed away on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Olathe Health Hospice House. A visitation will take place at Dengel & Son Mortuary-Paola Chapel on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A funeral service will take place the following day on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, beginning at 10:30 am. Burial will follow the services at Paola Cemetery.
Larry was born on February 11, 1946, in Paola, Kansas. He graduated from Dell City High School in 1964, setting the foundation for a life filled with hard work, love, and devotion.
Shortly after graduating, Larry married the love of his life, Joice, on May 11, 1967. Their nearly six decades together were a testament to a partnership rooted in understanding, support, and an unwavering bond. Together, they built a family centered on the love and joy they shared.
Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Joice, their daughter Dawn, their son John (Michele), and grandchildren Austin (Sydney) and Tyler. He also leaves behind his siblings Mike, Ricky (Cheryl), Pam, and Jo Ann, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Evelyn Brewer, his brother Johnny Lee, his sisters Betty (Harold) and Linda (Carl), his sister-in-law Flora, and his son-in-law Don.
Larry’s career began in Kansas City, where he became a skilled tradesman, leaving a lasting legacy through his craftsmanship that can be seen in the Kansas City skyline which he helped build. His passion for the community was evident when he coached his daughter’s softball team and played a pivotal role in constructing the first girls’ ball fields at Wallace Park in Paola, Kansas. His contributions to youth sports have left a lasting impact on youth sports in the community.
Larry had a gift for making others feel at ease. He truly never met a stranger. His warmth, humor, and generosity illuminated the lives of those around him. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Larry’s memory will endure in the hearts of everyone he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit of kindness and laughter will continue to bring comfort and inspiration.
