With such deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Lance Robert Hayes of Osawatomie, Kansas, on Monday, November 15, 2010. Lance was born April 11, 1978, to his proud parents, Robert Roy Hayes and Susan Dean Hayes. Lance was the light of their lives. He grew up in Paola, where he made many life-long friends. He later moved to Osawatomie then to Greeley. Lance graduated from Anderson County High School in 1997. Lance and Natalie Scherman were married on October 4, 2002, in Osawatomie, Kansas. They shared two beautiful sons, Isaac Dean Hayes, born October 26, 2001, and Alexander Andrew Hayes, born October 7, 2003. They resided in Osawatomie together until 2007. Lance's happiest moments of his life were spent playing basketball, fishing, being outdoors, listening to music and making memories with his dear friends and family. Most of all, he deeply cherished the time that he spent with his sons playing, sharing stories and just being together. Lance is survived by two loving sons, Isaac and Alex Hayes of St. Louis, Missouri, his father, Robert Hayes of Osawatomie, Kansas, his grandmother, Doris Hayes of Paola, Kansas, his grandmother, Willa Smith of Spring Hill, Kansas, his brother, Jess Louk of Tampa, Florida, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends. Lance was proceeded in death by his grandfather, Raymond Hayes, in 1985, his mother, Susan Hoffman Hayes, in 2000 and his grandmother, Waneta Nadine Hoffman, in 2006. Services are being held on Monday, November 22, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hillsdale Presbyterian Church in Hillsdale, KS, followed by graveside service at the Hillsdale Cemetery.
