Kurtis Leach, 46, Osawatomie, died Friday February 1, 2013, in his home. Kurtis was born January 20, 1967 in Paola, Kansas . His parents were Elwood "Woody" Leach and Marlene Darner Leach. He grew up in rural Osawatomie, helping his father on the farm and raising livestock. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1985. Kurtis worked on the family farm for most of his life. He also worked along his father and brother in the Oil fields as a producer and puller. He was employed by Walmart in Paola for several years. Mr. Leach was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Osawatomie. His pastimes included spending time with his family and friends, playing and coaching baseball, fishing, camping, boating, attending his nieces and nephews sporting events, and taking them to the fishing derby. He was an avid sports fan who rooted for the Missouri Tigers. Those preceding him in death were his father, Elwood "Woody" Leach, sister Michelle who died in infancy, and a nephew Scott Leach. Survivors include his mother, Marlene Leach, of Osawatomie, his brother, Bradley Leach and his wife Lori of Rantoul, a sister Tiffanie Leach Ohmes and her husband Mike of Osawatomie, and his nieces and nephews, Dee Leach, Matthew Leach and his wife Tara, Jessica McMechan and her husband Craig, Jeremiah Leach, Misty Leach, Jeffrey Leach, Marlee Leach, Gabrial McMechan, Lisianna Ohmes, Gavin McMechan, Scott Leach, and Austin Leach. Memorials may be made to Kurtis Leach Memorial Fund to sponsor children"s athletic events and the annual fishing derby. To leave a special memory go to the share memory tab.
