Kurt Bradford Eckel, 60, formerly of Louisburg, KS, passed away Sunday, April 3, at his home in Cleveland, MO. Kurt was born in Wichita on July 31, 1950 and grew up in Clearwater, KS. He graduated from Clearwater High School in 1968. He later moved to Merriam, KS, but spent most of the last 20 years in Louisburg. Most of his life was spent as an over-the-road truck driver of hazardous waste until an injury forced his retirement. Kurt is survived by his wife, Kathie, one son, David Richardson, one grandson, Isaac Richardson; two sisters, Diane Selbe (Dave) of Kansas City, KS, and Kris Rauenzahn (Jeff) of Lenexa; one nephew, Mitch Selbe, and two nieces, Michelle and Marissa Selbe. Those who met Kurt even once would never forget him. He was a big man with a big heart. He never knew a stranger and was always there to help those who needed him. Kurt was outgoing, liked to laugh and always had a joke to tell. He was the first to help a friend, and the many he made he kept for life.
