K.T. Keenan Shoemaker was born on Monday, December 15, 1980, in Ottawa, Kansas. He was the son of Roger and Edith (Keenan) Shoemaker. A lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, he lived in the Williamsburg and Pomona areas until his death on Friday, February 18, 2011, at the age of thirty years. K.T. graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 2000, where he was a member of the football team and involved in F.F.A. Starting at a very young age, he was a constant companion and helper to his father on the farm. He became a partner in the family farming operation and also worked construction in commercial construction areas. K.T. was a dedicated and loyal son, brother, uncle and grandson. His mother could always count on him around the house for an extra set of hands, and he never hesitated when his sister and brother-in-law called for help with a home project. He was always so kind, especially in the role as uncle and grandson. He was always so patient, even if it meant playing pretend kitchen or putting together one more toy. His weekly lunches with his grandmother were one of his favorite activities. He also enjoyed his yearly pheasant hunting trips to Kingston, Kansas, and driving his pickup trucks. He loved animals and animals loved him. Whether it was riding a favorite horse or helping with the family cattle, he was a natural caretaker. K.T. leaves an empty space in our hearts that will never be filled. He is survived by his parents, Edith and Roger Shoemaker; sister, Shanna Shoemaker Grant and her husband, Joey, and their two sons, Jack and Wyatt of Fairway, Kansas; and his paternal grandmother, Hazel Shoemaker, of Ottawa. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Willard Shoemaker, and maternal grandparents, John and Olla Keenan.
