Kimberly Jo “Kim” Smith, age 54, of Paola, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, died Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on Monday, October 17, 1955, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (Todd) and Virgil L. Smith. She lived most of her life in Ottawa. Kim attended Garfield Elementary and graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1973. She was a member of Cherry Street Wesleyan Church in Ottawa. She enjoyed dance and piano for many years, and was also an avid K.U. and Chief’s fan. She is survived by her: Mother-Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Smith of Ottawa, Kansas Father-Virgil L. Smith and his wife, Jan, of Ottawa, Kansas Sister-Sue Ellen (Caylor) Harsch and her husband, Myron, of Garnett, Kansas Brother-Mark Smith and his wife, Ruth, of Topeka, Kansas Step-brother-Tony Moore of Ottawa, Kansas Step-brother-Brian Moore and his wife, Betty, of Burlington, Kansas Aunt-Cheryl McClay and her husband, Mike, of Columbia, South Carolina Aunt-Jayne Turner and her husband, Roger, of Ottawa, Kansas Aunt-Jean Beaird and her husband, Gene, of Washington State Maternal step-grandmother-Gwen Todd of Ottawa, Kansas Several nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles She is preceded in death by her: Maternal grandparents-Imogene Sheldon Reedy, Virginia Todd, Polly Todd, and Jonathan “Jay” Todd Fraternal grandparents-Ferne H. Smith and Virgil L. Smith, Sr. Several aunts and an uncle SERVICES: Memorial Services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010. IN STATE: Kim gave the gift of life through organ donation, and the family urges others to consider it. Cremation is planned. CEMETERY: Inurnment will be at Garnett Cemetery in Garnett, Kansas.
