Kevin Vencel, 60, of Williamsburg, Kansas, passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at his residence
Kevin was born December 19, 1964, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Kenneth E. Vencel and M. Nadine (Cooper) Vencel.
Kevin grew up in Kincaid, Kansas, graduating from Crest Sr High School. Kevin later moved to Harris, Kansas, where he operated a farm and worked for Anderson County, operating a road grader.
Kevin was united in marriage to Lisa Taylor on November 30, 1989, raising one son, Kenneth. Kevin and Lisa moved to Muskogee, Oklahoma, where he began his career as a truck driver. Kevin moved back to Kincaid to care for his mother. He later moved to Williamsburg, where Lisa was closer to her family.
Kevin enjoyed spending his free time riding his motorcycle, attending car shows, rodeos and most of all a good ole tractor pull. Kevin's idea of a good weekend off was normally spent working on outdoor projects. The only word to describe Kevin was hardworking. There truly was no task that he couldn't do. He was a true jack of all trades. He would make short work of a job that would take most people a week to do. He would have accomplished it in a day's time. Kevin's true specialty was taking down trees. Many trees fell hard when Kevin decided it was time to go. In his eyes there were always many ways to do a job, but you could always guarantee he wouldn’t leave until the job was done. Most would run the other way from hard work but never Kevin. Even though work took Kevin away from his family. He would make a point to spend time with his grandchildren. He was always working hard to bring a smile to their faces. He would spend time in the yard making sure the trampoline was safe for the kids. That the pool was full with the first sign that summer was getting close, that the dirt pile was always piled high for the grandkids toy trucks to play in. Kevin was a man of few words, but his willingness to help others with work ethic spoke loud and clear. Kevin continued to drive a semi for Walmart, where he took pride in driving over 2 million miles accident free.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents. Kevin is survived by his son, Kenneth (Sarah); his grandchildren, Hannah, John, Kenzie and Gracie; sisters, Carolyn (Marty) Hall and Dalene Vencel; and a nephew, Adam (Carmen) Hall.
The family will gather to meet with friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas.
