Kevin J. Hanson, 53, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Ransom Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, March 13, 2017, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona. Family will meet with friends from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, March 12, 2017, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Kevin was born Monday, November 4, 1963, in Ottawa, the son of Frank Hanson and Katherine “Kay” (Price) Leach. He was a lifelong Pomona, Kansas resident. He graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 1981. Kevin was united in marriage to Teal (Johnson) Hermreck July 4, 2008, in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his three children, Brent “Bob” Hanson of Pomona, Brittany “Ogre” Bowers and husband Brian of Ottawa, and Talya Suffron of Pomona; parents, Kay and John Leach of Pomona; sister, Tammy Rockhold and husband Glenn of Pomona; four grandchildren, Briley, Brax, Brikan and Braze Bowers all of Ottawa; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Hanson; and grandparents, Virginia Harris, Frank W. Hanson, and Harold and Maxine Price. Kevin was employed with the City of Ottawa as an electric lineman for 31 years. His lifelong dream was just fulfilled in opening Hanson’s Sinderbloc Bar in Pomona. Kevin loved spending time with people and never knew a stranger. He especially enjoyed his grandkids, and always looked forward to family and friends gatherings. He liked fishing, cards and horseshoes with his friends, and enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Oakland Raiders and KU basketball. He enjoyed cooking and making his famous “fall for me fudge”. Kevin was his own man. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
