Kenton Smith

May 11, 1951 — November 4, 2007

Kenton E. Smith was born May 11, 1951 in Kansas City, Mo. To Kenneth and Mary (Severy) Smith. He spent most of his life in the Miami County area, living in Paola the last 15 years until his death on Sunday , November 4, 2007. He was 56 years old. Kent graduated from Louisburg High School in 1969. He was active in sports and FFA. He worked for Dibben Oil, a steel company and on the family farm in Spring Hill. He worked 28 years for Simmons Gun Specialty in Spring Hill. In 1990 Kent and Randie Evans were married in a small ceremony in Spring Hill. There they began their journey enjoying the outdoors and building their life together. They adopted five boys along that journey thus creating the family they had always dreamed of. Kent"s interest in shooting, hunting, fishing, and his dogs were a big part of his life. He loved spending time with his kids and friends too, watching his boys play soccer and watching the Chiefs on television. In his last years he was a big fan of the Crocodile Hunter and loved to watch Animal Planet. He was a gentle man who truly loved his family and church, and he tried to live his faith each day. He loved the worship music and it gave him great joy as he grew weaker. Kent showed pure joy in life and an awesome courage during his ten year illness. He was our hero. He is survived by his wife Randie of the home, five sons; Shawn, Michael, and Justin of Paola, Robert of Michigan, and Nathan of Parsons. Also by his father Kenneth Smith of Spring Hill, by his brother Larry of Louisburg, two grandchildren, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
