Kenneth W. “Ken” Froggatte, 73, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019. Family will meet with friends from 4:00 P.M., to 5:00 P.M., Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Graveside service will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 14, 2019, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa. Ken was born September 16, 1945, in Beaver, Oklahoma, the son of Grover Otis and Betty Lee (Girk) Froggatte. He lived in Forgan, Oklahoma until moving in 1954 to Princeton, Kansas. In 1986, Ken moved to Ottawa, where he has made his home until his death. He attended Princeton High School later moving and graduating from Garnett High School with the class of 1963. Ken was married to Ruby Brown August 4, 1963 and later divorced. He was united in marriage to Judy M. (Maxwell) Houdashelt May 17, 1986 in Ottawa. She survives of the home. Other survivors include children, Lisa Myers and husband Alan of Ottawa, Kevin Froggatte and wife Kim of Pomona, Matthew Froggatte and wife Heather also of Pomona, Lori Stafford and Doug Crawford of Tonganoxie, and Rick Houdashelt of Sublette; sister, Bessie Bloomer of Ottawa; fourteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Sherry Froggatte and several special cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; brother, Steve Froggatte; brother-in-law, Don Bloomer; and great grandchild Charlie May. Ken was a man who liked to work with his hands. He was the owner/operator of KenCo Car Wash for 20 years, retiring in 2011. He worked as a residential carpenter and foreman with Duke Manufacturing. Ken also was employed with Mode O Day in the maintenance department. He was a member of Power of the Past, former member of Aerie Lodge 2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and former member of Ruhamah Baptist Church. Ken was a craftsman and problem solver. He enjoyed engineering solutions to problems that others found too daunting. Ken’s children will greatly miss his profound wisdom being only a phone call away. He enjoyed restoring antique cars and tractors, making leather crafts, woodworking, camping and going to Texas in the winter. Above all, he looked forward to time spent with family and grandchildren.
