Kenneth V. 'Ken' Morrow was born August 13, 1928, in Burlington, Kansas. He was the son of Ross and Ethel (Hanson) Morrow. A lifelong Franklin County, Kansas resident, Ken previously lived in Princeton, then Williamsburg, before moving to Ottawa in 1975, where he made his home until his death Thursday, April 10, 2003, at the age of seventy-four years. Ken graduated from Wellsville High School with the class of 1945. In the late 1950's and early 1960's, he worked as a mechanic for Price Motors. He worked for Ottawa Steel in the mid to late 1960's as a driver, then, in the early 1970's, he was a welder; also, in the late 1960's and early 1970's, he worked for the Franklin County Highway Department, and was a projectionist at Plaza Theater and Hillcrest Drive-In, all in Ottawa. From the late 1970's to retirement, he was fulltime National Guard. He served in the United States Army from January of 1947 to January of 1950, with his tour of duty including Japan and Korea. He re-enlisted as a Specialist 3 on August 16, 1951, returned to Korea in December of 1951 to January of 1953, serving as a medic in the Korean War, then returned to Ft. Sam Houston and was honorably discharged August 15, 1955. He received Army of Occupation Medals for serving in Germany (exclusive of Berlin), Berlin, Japan, and Korea, Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal. He also served full time in the National Guard from February of 1974 to March of 1988, as Sgt. 1st Class E-7, in Ottawa, retiring from Topeka. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5901, Ottawa; Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Ottawa; and, American Legion Post #1 of Topeka. Ken enjoyed welding and tinkering in his shop, working and talking on his collection of many 'CB' radio's. He especially enjoyed spending time with his daughter and family. On August 1, 1957, Ken was united in marriage with Carolee Anderson at Ottawa. She preceded him in death on April 22, 1983. Also, preceding him in death are his parents; two brothers, Roger Morrow, and Ronald Lynn Morrow (infant); and one sister, Mary Ann Moherman. He is survived by his daughter, Debra K. Morrow of Richmond; one sister, Gloria Leecy of Ottawa; and one brother, Richard 'Dick' Morrow of Kansas City, Kansas. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Henry A. Roberts, Jr. IN STATE: Mr. Morrow will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 5:00 p.m. Saturday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Monday evening.
