Kenneth R. Johnson, 67, of Rantoul, Kansas died on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Life Care Center of Osawatomie in Osawatomie, Kansas. He was the son of O. K. and Alice (Finch) Johnson. He was born on Friday, August 30, 1940, in Inglewood, California. He was a near lifelong resident, moving with his family to the Rantoul, Kansas area at the age of two. Kenneth graduated from Rantoul High School with the class of 1958. He worked as a maintenance mechanic supervisor for Hercules Ammunition Plant in DeSoto thirty-seven years, retiring in 2003. In addition, he was a station owner and attendant at Rantoul; nursery worker for Willis Nursery; employee for Ottawa Truck; mail carrier for Rantoul area; T.V. repairman at Rantoul and sold T.V. Dish; Fairfax Insulation worker; airplane mechanic for Dempsey in Rantoul; airplane pilot; plumber for his uncle in at Baldwin; construction worker for Caylor on Sugar Valley Lake; dairyman for Sunrise Dairy; gas compressor and chartsman for Oklahoma Gas Co. and manned his own oil leases. He was a fifty-year member of the Lane Masonic Lodge; former Mayor and Town Councilman of Rantoul; and former Central Heights School Board member. On June 17, 1960, Kenneth was united in marriage with Johnaver Cole in Rantoul, Kansas. She survives of their home. Son-Mark Johnson of Gardner, Kan. Brother-Terry Johnson of Rantoul, Kan. Brother-Lee Johnson & his wife, Phyllis, of Rantoul, Kan. Brother-Billy Johnson & his wife, Vicky, of Rantoul, Kan. Grandchildren-Kenzie, Kevin, Nathan, Aaron, Brant, Jordan, Kyrstin Gt.Grandchildren-Jayden , Cortlin, Mailey He was preceded in death by: Father-O. K. Johnson Mother-Alice (Finch) Johnson Son-Kenneth Allen Johnson SERVICES: Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 6, 2008, at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Miami County, Kansas. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mr. Johnson at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7:00 to 8:00 Tuesday evening.
