Kenneth Lee Howard, 63, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Cremation is planned with a celebration of life to be held at a later date.

Kenneth was born Saturday, May 13, 1961, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of William and Barbara (Powers) Howard.

He lived in Ottawa since the late 1970s moving there from Garnett, Kansas, where he attended school at the Garnett public schools.

Kenneth was united in marriage in Ottawa, Kansas, on May 12, 1983, to Elizabeth Mitchell. She survives of the home.

He served in the United States Army for seven years.

Kenneth was a truck driver for many years, a painter and drywaller, and smoked meats.

He attended the Community Revival Center Church in Ottawa and was a member of the Kansas Barbeque Society.

Kenneth was a “backyard pitmaster” and enjoyed smoking meats, mowing, and was an avid Chiefs and K.U. fan. He especially loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Barbara.

Along with his wife Elizabeth, survivors include three sons Luke Howard of Canada, Mike Yeager (Janelle) of Homewood, Kansas and Nathan Howard (Stephanie) of Greeley, Kansas; three daughters Angela Mercado (Ruben) of Bradenton, Florida, Corrinda McDowell (Curtis) of Ottawa, Kansas, and Libby Howard of Ottawa, Kansas; brothers Mike Powers (Cindy) of Paxico, Kansas, Daniel Shields of Paxico, Kansas, Bill Howard of Wichita, Kansas, twin brother Kevin Howard (Jody) of Clermont, Florida, Steve Howard (Rhonda) of Princeton, Kansas, Bob Howard of Lawrence, Kansas, and Chris Kresyman of Osage City, Kansas; sister Mary Kresyman of St. Paul, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
