Kenneth Jens Niesz

Kenny Niesz age 76 passed away Wednesday October 18, 2023. Born to Harley Christopherson and Laura Tiarks in Norfolk, Nebraska on October 27th, 1946. Kenny was later adopted by Laura’s husband William (Bill) Niesz and would attend Wentworth Military academy in Kansas City MO, before joining the army in 1964. Serving in the Vietnam war until May 1967. Upon returning home he stayed in the KC area where he met and married Wetona Beatty in 1968. Together they would have 3 children Tammy Niesz (Butler), Bill Niesz, and Terry Niesz and were married for 35 years.

Kenny was in construction prior to beginning a career with Louisburg Fire dept and then the Miami County sheriffs dept holding several roles including deputy, detective, and undersheriff. He dabbled in automotive sales for a short period and then became an investigator with FCI before retiring in 2015. In May 2009 he married Rhoda McCoy and later moved to Florida, ending the marriage before returning to Miami County KS in 2020.

His early hobbies included dirt bikes, auto re-upholstering, drag racing, and trips to Las Vegas. In retirement he enjoyed car shows, frequent trips to KC area casinos, working on late model cars, listening to music, camping, spending time with friends and family while supporting the KC Chiefs.

He is proceeded in death by Harley Christopherson, William (Bill) Niesz, Laura Niesz, brother Gerald Behrens, and infant son Terry Niesz. He is survived by son Kenneth (Bill) Niesz (Angie) of Lincoln NE, and daughter Tammy Butler (Bill) of Osawatomie, KS, grandsons Riley Niesz (Michaela), Logan Niesz, Billy Butler Jr. (Jamie), and Caleb Butler, and five great grandchildren.
