Kenneth Herbert Waite, age 92, of Louisburg, KS, died January 8, 2012 at Louisburg Care Center, Louisburg, KS. He was born June 17, 1919 in Columbia, MO, the son of Hiram and Mary Katherine Hooper Waite. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Wells on March 8, 1949 at Paola, KS. Kenny graduated with the class of 1936 from Louisburg High School and attended Ottawa University and Pittsburg State University. He served during WWII in the United States Army. He worked for General Motors for 28 years as a spot welder before retiring. Kenny was a member of the Louisburg American Legion John P. Hand Post #250, serving as commander, Peace Lodge 243 serving as Master, Abdallah Shrine, Scottish Rite, Local Union 31, lifetime member of the VFW and the Louisburg United Methodist Church, serving as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. He was an avid baseball, basketball and tennis player. Kenny was in a men"s quartet for many years and was the last survivor of that quartet. He sang for many funerals in this area and will be remembered for his fabulous voice. Gospel music was his passion. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Steve Waite, one grandson, Shawn Weers, and one brother, Robert Waite. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Waite, of the home; three sons, Mark Waite, Kansas City, MO; Mike Waite and wife Pam, Louisburg, KS; and Robert Waite and wife Donna, Bucyrus, KS; one daughter, Mary Jo and husband Arnold Weers, Louisburg, KS; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
