Kenneth Daniel Coultis, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, May 7, 2018. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Ottawa, Kansas. Ken was born January 28, 1944, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Robert Clark Coultis and Mary Virginia (Wood) Coultis Pankratz. He lived in various locations throughout his life including Wichita from 1944 to 1962, Lawrence from 1962 to 1977, Baldwin City from 1977 to 2016, and Ottawa from 2016 until his death. He graduated from Wichita West High School with the class of 1962 and continued his education at the University of Kansas from 1962 to 1964. Ken was united in marriage to Lilly Marie Pratt January 26, 1964, in Lawrence. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his four children, Daniel Allen Coultis and wife Jane, David Mathew Coultis and wife Barbara, Mark Andrew (Andy) Coultis and wife April, and John Richard Coultis and wife Cheryl; four siblings, Don Coultis, Enid Albrecht, George Ingram (Gram) Pankratz, and John Mel Pankratz; mother-in-law, Jessie Pratt; nine grandchildren, Erin, Adam, Michael, Benjamin, Claire, Ty, Adele, Arron and Amber; and two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Cayden. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Coultis; mother, Mary Pankratz; stepfather, George Pankratz; and two siblings, Robert Coultis, Jr. and Marilyn Joan McLean. He was employed with the Sunflower Ammunition Plant from 1965 to 1971; Lawrence Police Department as an officer from 1971 to 1976; and Koch Industries as a chemical plant operator from 1977 to 1999, retiring at the age of 55 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ottawa, former member of Lawrence Heights Christian Church, and Lawrence Fraternal Order of Police. Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was younger. He loved being at his lake house where he always enjoyed his family, camping and being near the water. He loved traveling to Germany and England, flying lessons, and spending time with his grandchildren.
