Kenneth C. Zahner

November 9, 1924 — December 2, 2016

Kenneth C. Zahner, age 92, passed away December 2, 2016 at Lakeview Village in Lenexa. He was born November 9, 1924 to William and Anna Wren Zahner, one of two children. He attended Lenexa schools and later enlisted in the United States Army during WWII and served in the European Theater as a Staff Sergeant. After the war Kenneth was united in marriage to Elizabeth Enyart on November 30, 1946 in Lenexa Kansas. They made their home in Lenexa and became the parents of six children. They moved to Paola in 1974 where he purchased a farm and enjoyed farming along with working for the Sachs Electric Company as an electrical superintendent for many years. Kenneth was very active in the IBEW #124 Union as a board member and was also active on the Water District #2 in Miami County. In his younger years Kenneth enjoyed spending time with his family at their cabin that he built in the Lake of the Ozarks, and after retirement he enjoyed wintering in Texas with his wife and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Timothy, his brother Robert, and his wife, Elizabeth. Survivors are his children, Nancy McDaniel (Ed), Ronald Zahner, Michael Zahner, Patrick Zahner (Karen), Janice Ryan (Rich), 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 E. Chippewa St., Paola, KS with visitation from 10:00 " 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial is in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer"s Association, https://act.alz.org.
