Kenneth Albert “Kenny” Mages, 69, passed away Thursday, October 2, 2014, at his home in Ottawa, Kansas, with his family by his side, under the care of Midland Care Hospice. Cremation is planned. Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 8, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Ottawa. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 P.M., Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by a family visitation at 7:00 P.M. Inurnment Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Ottawa. Kenny was born Monday, September 24, 1945, in Ottawa, the son of Albert B. and Pauline (Vickers) Mages. As a small child, he lived in Newton, Kansas. Kenny later moved with his family to Peculiar, Missouri, where he was part of the first class to graduate from Raymore/Peculiar High School in 1963. He returned to Ottawa in the late 1970’s. Kenneth married Earlene Hicks August 4, 2012, his companion of over twenty years, at the VFW Hall in Ottawa. Survivors include his daughter, Robyn Bennett and husband Raymond of Peculiar, Missouri; siblings, Charlie Mages of Ottawa, Tim Mages and wife Paula of Ottawa, and Cindy Mars and husband Eric of Ottawa; granddaughter, Daily Bennett of Peculiar, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, Chris Mages, Sadye Mages, Stephanie Miller, Cale Mages, Anna Mages, and Alex Mars. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Ronald Mages. Kenny was a plumber out of Local Union #8, Plumbers & Gasfitters of Kansas City, Missouri, where he was a forty-five year member. He also worked for ten years with Bendix/Allied Signal of Kansas City, Missouri. He was an avid fisherman who loved being in the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, working on his farm near Centropolis, and vacationing every spring and fall in Canada. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Ottawa Council #3018.
