Kelly Rae Record was born April 2, 1985, at Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Scott and Lori (Welch) Record. Kelly grew up in Princeton, Kansas. In March of this year, she moved to Garnett, in Anderson County, Kansas, where she made her home until her death Monday, May 20, 2002, at the age of seventeen years. Kelly was a Junior at Central Heights School with a 3.5 grade point average. She was a beautiful girl with a bright future who had plans to attend Emporia State University. She enjoyed the outdoors and had so much fun going on camping trips and canoeing. She enjoyed cruising around Ottawa and Garnett while listening to current music on the radio and also liked watching Jerry Springer on T.V. Most of all, Kelly loved being with her family and spending time with her many friends. She is survived by her parents; one brother, Andrew Record, and one sister, Bailey Record, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Bob and Phyllis Knight, of Princeton, Kansas; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Suzanne Record, of Townville, South Carolina; five aunts and four uncles, Linda and Truyn Bischoff, of Williamsburg, Kansas, Teresa and Mark Record, of Townville, South Carolina, Heidi and Marke Benedict, of Townville, South Carolina, Lisa and Allyn Record, of Vero Beach, Florida, and Jennifer Knight, of Los Angeles, California. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bill Welch. Kelly's organ donations have given the gifts of faith, hope, and courage to the lives of several people. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Ottawa, 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2002. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Rev. Marjorie Cox. IN STATE: Kelly will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 9:00 a.m. Thursday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Thursday evening. CEMETERY: Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Diabetes Association, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
