Kathryn M. Horne

Kathryn M. Horne, 83, of Williamsburg, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Olathe Medical Center. Celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. Family will meet with friends one hour prior to service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the church. Inurnment Pleasant View Cemetery, Agricola. Kathryn was born October 6, 1935, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Jacob Elston and Mildred Celeste (Peddicord) Decker. She was a lifelong resident of Franklin and Osage Counties in Kansas. She graduated from Williamsburg High School with the class of 1953 and attended a semester at Baker University in Baldwin, Kansas. Kathryn was united in marriage to Gary D. Horne July 3, 1954, at Ottawa. He preceded her in death on December 26, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her three children, Elston D. Horne of Williamsburg, Jeanine Cameron and husband Bud of Melvern, and Leanna Horne of Ottawa; sister, Karolyn Mersmann of Birmingham, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Jason Cameron and wife Angie, Nathan Cameron and wife Dawn, Jon Horne, Heather Froggatte and husband Matt, Brian Boeger and wife Brandy, Angela Boeger, Jeremy Branson and wife Kealy; and eighteen great-grandchildren. Kathryn was a devoted homemaker and worked at Beto Junction from November 1978 until January 1979 and at King Radio from 1979 until 1982. She was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and FEC formerly Tequa Extension Homemaker Unit. She was very active in the Jayhawk Booster Club. Kathryn enjoyed crafts and babysitting her grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Williamsburg Library c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
