Kathryn L. Stewart

Kathryn L. Stewart, 84, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, September 6, 2018, at the Baldwin Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 10, 2018, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Centropolis. Mrs. Stewart will lie in state from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Kathryn was born December 13, 1933, in Garnett, Kansas, the daughter of Homer G. and Louise C. (Muller) Teter. She moved from Garnett with her family to Iowa and in 1936 moved to Ottawa. Kathryn was united in marriage to Ralph Stewart June 24, 1952, in Bentonville, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on November 21, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Louise Teter; son, Jim Stewart; step grandson, Jonah Tate; granddaughter, Ali Rae Morin; and brother, Homer Teter, Jr. Survivors include her three children, Bonnie Ramsey and husband Kent of Ottawa, David Stewart of Greenwood, Missouri, and Linda Tate and husband Lawrence of Lawrence, Kansas; two siblings, Barbara Williams of Ottawa, and Patricia Parker of Forsyth, Missouri; sister-in-law, Janice Teter of Neosho, Missouri; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and her dearly loved cat, Willie. Kathryn was employed as a supervisor with Parmelee Products from 1962 until retiring in 1994. She was baptized at First Baptist Church and later attended Community Foursquare Church, both of Ottawa. Kathryn enjoyed gardening, flowers, canning vegetables, and KU basketball. Above all, she loved spending time with family.
