Katherine Denise Watkins

Katherine Denise Watkins of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her home on January 4, 2025, at the age of 67. 

Katherine was born on July 31, 1957 in Ottawa, Kansas. She was the daughter of Jay Lyle and Lois Edith (Mollett) Doty. Katherine grew up in Quenemo, Kansas and attended Quenemo High School where she went on to get her high school diploma. She later moved to Ottawa, Kansas.

Katherine was united in marriage with Stephen Watkins in 1976. They later divorced. In 1995, Katherine was united in marriage to Raymond Watkins in Oklahoma. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her two sons, Steven Doty and wife Christy of Ottawa, Danny Watkins and wife Catrina of Holden, Missouri; two daughters, Beverly O’Neill and husband Patrick of Ottawa, and Saphira Watkins of the home; thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; four siblings, Lois Standing Cloud of Garnett, Kansas, Kevin Doty and wife Teresa of Pomona, Kansas, Karla Doty of Quenemo, and Eric Doty and wife Casey of Pella, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Jay and Lois Doty, brothers Lyle and David Doty, and sister Brenda Hernandez. 

Over the years Katherine worked at Midwest Cabinets, American Eagle, and was a Home Daycare Provider before retiring in 2019. Katherine enjoyed camping, playing cards, and going on vacation. She loved to host gatherings and be surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 5:00pm-7:00pm at Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa. Funeral services will follow on Friday, January 17, 2025 at 11:00am. Burial will take place after the services at Oak Hill Cemetery in Quenemo, Kansas.
