Katherine J. "Kathy" Roehl

Katherine J. “Kathy” Roehl, 94, of Eudora, Kansas, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, at Medicalodges Eudora. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2016, at Hope Cemetery, Ottawa. Interment will follow. Mrs. Roehl will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, and 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 24, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Katherine was born Friday, August 4, 1922, in Utica, Kansas, the daughter of Robert C. “R.C.” and Florence Etta (Brocher) Brown. She spent her childhood in Utica, Kansas, and was a near lifelong Ottawa resident. She attended Utica Rural High School. Katherine was united in marriage to Daniel “Danny” Roehl December 10, 1941, in Garden City, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Robert Roehl; siblings, Bessie, Pauline, Norabelle, Aubrey, Theodore and Junior. Survivors include her four children, Donna Rose and husband Don of Cullison, Kansas, Daunita Drake and husband Melvin of Lawrence, Kansas, Joyce Clowser and husband Dale of Grandview, Missouri, and Cynthia Roehl of Chicago, Illinois; sister, Jessie Jacka of Wichita, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Julie Roehl of Princeton, Kansas; fifteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren. She was a devoted lifelong homemaker and also worked many years at the Ottawa Library. Katherine enjoyed family get-togethers. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting and embroidery handwork. She watched Judge Judy and never missed an episode of The Lawrence Welk Show. The family suggests memorial contributions to Medicalodges Eudora c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S.
