Kathaleen Donner

Kathaleen Donner (née Scribner) died peacefully in her home on Monday, December 11, 2017 in Paola, Kansas at the age of 75. Kathaleen is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Donner, children: Kathy Donner, Janet Donner, both of Eudora, KS and Kimberly Rentz (Dennis), Paola, KS and grandchildren: Brook Rentz (Kevin Collins), Bonner Springs, KS and Katie Donner, Lawrence, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otha and Almeda Scribner, a sister, Faye Manes and a brother, James Scribner. Kathaleen was born on January 29, 1942 in Wheeling, Arkansas to Otha and Almeda Scribner. She graduated from Salem High School in 1959. After moving to Kansas City, MO, Kathaleen began working for Montgomery Ward’s then for Automotive Owners Assurance Company as a clerk. She married James L. Donner on September 29, 1962. The couple welcomed 3 children into their home. Her children remember Kathaleen as a family focused mother who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Kathaleen was a homemaker and farm wife while the kids were growing up. Once they were grown, Kathaleen worked for Walmart for many years then worked in the cafeteria for the Paola School District. Once Jim retired, Kathaleen also retired so they could enjoy their later years together. Visitation 6-8pm on Friday, December 15, 2017 at Dengel & Son Mortuary, 305 N. Pearl St., Paola, KS. Funeral 10:30am Saturday, December 16, 2017 at the chapel. Burial Pleasant Valley Cemetery. Chaplain Parker Ebling-Artz will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Kathaleen’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Diabetes Association.
