Karen Leone Newell

Karen Newell, 61 ,of Ottawa, Kansas died on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka, Kansas. She was the daughter of Frank Samples and Leone (Hand) Samples. She was born on Thursday, May 24, 1945, in Kansas City, Kansas. Karen grew up in the Kansas City and DeSoto, Kansas areas and moved to Franklin County, Kansas in 1981. She graduated from Washington High School in Kansas City, Kansas with the class of 1963. Karen was a homemaker. Karen was a member of the Lawrence Gunfighters' Association in Lawrence, Kansas. On April 18, 1964 Karen was united in marriage with Vernon E. Newell at DeSoto, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1991. Survivors include: Son-Chad Allen Newell and his wife, Amber of Lane, Kan. Son-Shane Lee Newell and his wife, Tracie of Baldwin City, Kan. Grandson-Cauy Allen Newell Grandson-Caden Wyatt Newell Grandson-Austin Vernon Newell Grandson-Cody David Newell She was preceded in death by: Husband-Vernon E. Newell Mother-Leone (Hand) Samples Father-Frank Samples IN STATE: Cremation is planned. The family will meet with friends at Dengel & Son Mortuary from 7:00 to 8:30 P.M. Thursday, February 8, 2007. CEMETERY: Inurnment will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 9, 2007 at Old Monticello Cemetery in Shawnee, Kansas.
