Karen Dee Moody

Karen Dee Moody, age 81, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away, Friday, November 19, 2021, at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, November 26, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa. Family will meet with friends from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., Wednesday, November 24, 2021, at the mortuary. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. Karen was born September 17, 1940, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Frank E. and Frances (Nutt) Hollingsworth. She grew up in Ottawa moving to Pomona, California with her husband, Jack, living there for several years, then returning to Kansas in the mid 1960’s residing in Pomona. Karen graduated from Ottawa High School with the class of 1958. She was united in marriage to Jack Moody July 3, 1958, in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on September 12, 2018. Karen worked as a salesclerk for Pamida Department Store in Ottawa for several years and a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service from 1980 to her retirement in 1996. She was a former member of the Richter United Methodist Church. Karen enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time in Arkansas. She loved shopping with her sisters, family gatherings and spending time with her sons and grandchildren. Karen especially enjoyed listening to music played on the piano by her son Michael. Karen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Frank Ray Moody and brother, Larry Hollingsworth. Survivors include her son Michael Moody and his wife Darcy of Pomona; sisters, Anita McDaniel and Frankie Derhammer both of Wellsville; five grandchildren, Caden Hamilton, Beckham, Maverick, Saylem and Jeralyn Moody all of Pomona.
