Junior L. York

Junior L. York, age 87, of Louisburg, KS passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Louisburg Care Center. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the Louisburg First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Louisburg Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held following the burial from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the church fellowship hall. The family suggests contributions to the Louisburg First Baptist Church. He was born on June 3, 1931 at home in Daughtery, MO, the son of Elmer L. and Gladys (Palmer) York. He was united in marriage to Irene M. Schoenberger on October 1, 1952 in Paola, Kansas. Junior worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Pitmann before retiring. He served in the United States Army in the artillery division during the Korean War between 1951 and 1953, earning 3 bronze stars for his bravery of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Louisburg. He loved all things garage sales, country western music shows, sturdy toothpicks and ice cream. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Irene, his parents, one daughter, Judy Leann York, one granddaughter, Caitlyn York, three brothers, Winifred, Donald and Bob and two sisters, Geneva and Barbara. Survivors include three sons, Jim (Crystal), Tom (Pat) and Jack (Janet) York; 13 grandchildren, Carolyn, Kindra, Ryan, Matthew, Andrew, Daniel, Jennifer, Amy, Tara, April, Krysta, Ashley and Dylan; 23 great grandchildren, Nikki, Micha, Johnny, Rodney, Erica, Kallon, Truman, Sadie, Lucie, Sawyer, Angel, Garrett, Remington, Zoe, Miles, Maylee, Aspen, Olive, Madison, Brooklyn, Savannah, Lucas, Jacob and three great great grandchildren, Ellina, Bryson and Emma. The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice and Louisburg Health and Rehabilitation Center for all of the loving care that was given to Dad, Grandpa York and Great Grandpa.
