June R. Kile-Sink

June Rose Kile Sink was born March 19, 1922, at Rantoul, Kansas. She was the daughter of Frank and Mabel (Freeman) Kirkland. A long time resident, she made her home in Ottawa, Franklin County, Kansas, from 1945 until her death Thursday, January 8, 2004, at the age of eighty-one years. June attended Ottawa High School with the class of 1940. She has been a lifelong homemaker. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church; Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary; and Ottawa Lodge #803, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Auxiliary, all of Ottawa. June loved the outdoors, and she loved caring for animals. She liked to go fishing and camping. She also enjoyed collecting dolls and watching the home shopping network on T.V. Her greatest love, however, was for her family and the joy of being together. On August 15, 1938, June was united in marriage with Robert K. Kile at Harrisonville, Missouri. They later divorced. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2001. On October 18, 1982, June was united in marriage with Claude John Sink at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death January 3, 1990. She is also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Fern Mock; and six brothers, Clarence 'Bud' Kirkland, Frank 'Babe' Kirkland, Harold 'Bill' Kirkland, Wayland D. Kirkland, Larry Lee Kirkland and Ronnie Kirkland. She is survived by two sons, Robert L. Kile of Ottawa and his wife, Doris, David Kile and his wife, Linda, of Ottawa; daughter, Gloria Wolf of Olathe; stepson, Tommy Sink and his wife, Debbie, of Ottawa; stepdaughter, Debbie Phillips and her husband, Bobby, of Ottawa; brother, Dean Kirkland and his wife, Betty, of Princeton; four grandsons, Ryan Kile, Bret Kile, Jeffrey Kile, Robbie Kile; great-grandson, Kwincy Kile; great-granddaughter, Karley Kile; and many nieces and nephews. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2004. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Steven Iwersen. IN STATE: She will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Saturday and 1:00 p.m. Sunday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 6 to 7:00 Sunday evening. CEMETERY: Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas. MEMORIALS: The family suggests memorials to Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter, c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067.
