June Marie Cook, age 87, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, November 1, 2020 at her home. Family will meet with friends 4:00 to 8:00 P.M., Friday, November 6, 2020 at Dengel & Son Mortuary. June Marie Cook was born Sunday, October 22, 1933 at Iola, Kansas, the daughter of George and Olive (McGuire) Hart. She grew up in Coffey County, Kansas and moved in 1953 to Ottawa, where she made her home except for eight or nine years living in Paola. June attended schools in Aliceville, Kansas. On February 7, 1953 June was united in marriage with Charles R. Cook at Williamsburg, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 9, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George and Olive Hart; stepfather, Clarence Henkle; brothers, Frank Hart, Ed Hart and Orville Hart; sisters, Leota Bentley and Viola Johnson; half-brothers, Lawrence Henkle, Ralph Henkle, Richard Henkle; and half-sister, Margarite Dickson. Survivors include daughters, Connie Fulbrook and Donna Guilfoyle (Brian Gaston); son, David Cook, all of Ottawa; grandchildren, Richard Guilfoyle (Stephanie), Joshua Guilfoyle (Amanda), Bryan Fulbrook (Jennifer) and Tammy Fulbrook (John Jackson) and great grandchildren, Haley, Dax, John Jr., Gracie, Colson, Cylar, Antonia, Jamie and Evelyn. June was a homemaker and provided childcare in her home for many years. She was also a dietary aid at Ottawa Retirement Village from 1996 to 2019, where even the residents referred to her as “Grandma”. She was a grandma to many children. June enjoyed growing roses, embroidery work and spending time with her family and grandchildren. She especially loved giving her great grandchildren Twinkies.
