June Helen Bloomer-Orr was born March 2, 1939, at Peoria, Kansas. She was the daughter of Carl Henry and Verdie Helen (Tucker) Bloomer. A lifelong resident, she made her home in Rantoul, Franklin County, Kansas, until her death Tuesday, September 2, 2003, at the age of sixty-four years. June graduated from Rantoul High School with the class of 1956. She was a public accountant employed by Ross Construction in Paola in the 1980`s and early 1990`s and Dodson Aviation in Rantoul in the late 1990`s and early 2000`s. Since 2002 to present, she was employed by Seymour Insurance Agency in Ottawa. She was an active member of Ruhamah Baptist Church in Rantoul. She was a past member and president of American Baptist Women of Ruhamah Baptist Church; longtime director of Rantoul Recreation; and served on the Rantoul High School reunion committee. She was a city of Rantoul Council member from September of 1997 to February of 2000. She was Rantoul Mayor from February of 2000 to May of 2001, and presently serving on the Council since May of 2001. In 1962, June was united in marriage with Gary L. Norris at Miami, Oklahoma. They were later divorced. On November 26, 1971, June was united in marriage with Kenneth Massengale, Sr. at Rantoul. They were later divorced. June was an outgoing active lady who loved people. She enjoyed serving on committees at her Church, as well as caring for the nursery. She was also very involved in the Rantoul community and loved helping the youth. She also enjoyed softball, gardening and working in her greenhouse. June was very proud of her family and greatly enjoyed her grandchildren and their family gatherings. Her favorite holiday with her family was Christmas. She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Massengale and his wife, Julie, of Ottawa, Keith Massengale and his wife, Sherry, of Rantoul; two daughters, Karla Willcut and her husband, Dean, of Rantoul, Charlotte Massengale of Ottawa; brother, Don C. Bloomer and his wife, Bessie, of Rantoul; and, ten grandchildren, Darrell Willcut, Jason Willcut, Karrenna Willcut, Ashley Massengale, Aaron Massengale, Shelby Knight, Megan Moore, Kyle Nutt, Austin Massengale and Blake Massengale. She is preceded in death by her parents. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2003. OFFICIATING CLERGY: Pastor Richard Dunn. IN STATE: June will lie in state at the Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday to the service hour, where the family will meet with friends 7 to 8:00 Wednesday evening.
