Julia Ann Hufferd, known to her family and friends as Judy, was born on June 16, 1931, in Mexico, Missouri to Hazel Catherine & Harry Fredrick Reimers. She grew up in Centralia, Kansas. Her father worked for Panhandle and was transferred to Olpe, Kansas when Judy was a freshman in high school. During high school Judy was a cheerleader in an all Catholic school and was the “P” in Olpe. Judy was the only non-Catholic in the school and was voted class president.

Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, January 6, 2022, at the Louisburg United Methodist Church 249 N. Metcalf Rd Louisburg, KS 66053. Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m.

In 1945 Judy met the love of her life, Kenneth Hufferd, when he offered to change her flat tire on her Model A. As Kenny would say, that was history, and they were wed on September 4, 1949, in Emporia, Kansas. They moved to Liberal, Kansas for a short time where Kenny worked for Panhandle. Later in 1949 they transferred to Haven, Kansas where they had their first child, Darrell, in 1950. In 1953 they had their second son, Doug, and in 1959 they had their third child, David.

In 1970 they transferred to Louisburg, Kansas where they spent the rest of their life together. Kenny retired from Panhandle in 1985 and they began enjoying their retirement by purchasing a motor home and wintering in Texas. Judy loved to play cards and taught her grandkids how to play all kinds of card games. She loved spending time with her family and friends, including being a part of a bunko group, a bridge group, and playing dominos at the Louisburg United Methodist Church where they were long-time members.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, her son Doug and daughter-in-law, Gail, and grandson Clint Ziegler. She leaves behind her husband, Kenneth Hufferd (Louisburg, KS), son Darrell Hufferd and Denise Ziegler (Wichita, KS), son David Hufferd and Michele (Louisburg, KS); Grandkids Craig Hufferd and Kalli (Louisburg, KS), Jennifer Morris and Shane (Raymore, MO), Jimmy Hufferd and Molly (Kansas City, MO), Misty Trucks and Tony (Parsons, KS), Myles Hufferd and Kalee (Springfield, MO), Megan Hufferd (Stockton, MO), and Brooke Ziegler and Augie (Wichita, KS); Great-Grandkids Parker Hufferd, Meredith Schmidt, Jackson Hufferd, Blakely Hufferd, Eloise Hufferd, Westyn Morris, Landyn Morris, Bryson Morris, Collin Ruff, Dylan Ruff, Kai Hufferd, Ethan Trucks and Brendan Crowley.
