Judy S. Norris, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many, passed away on May 27th, 2024 in Shawnee Mission, Kansas at the age of 82. She was born on December 26th, 1941 in Topeka to her parents Julius B. and Myrtle M. Smith Jacques.
Judy's life was marked by love and devotion to her family. On August 16th,1968 she married the love of her life Kreston I Norris II at the First Baptist Church in Ottawa KS. Together they built a beautiful life filled with joy and cherished memories before his passing in 2019.
She leaves behind a legacy of love through her three children: Jim Norris of St. Joseph MO; Jennifer (Tom) McMahon of Bonner Springs KS; Krystal (Doug) Patterson of Dardenne Prairie MO; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as her sister Sallie Myer from Topeka.
Judy's impact extended far beyond just those related by blood - she touched countless lives with her warmth and kindness throughout the years.
Her journey began when she graduated from Seaman High School in 1959.
A woman known for both humor and hard work Judy held various jobs within retail stores throughout her lifetime - each one closing after she left according to one of her favorite jokes! Her dedication shone through everything she did whether it be raising a family or working outside the home.
Community service was one of the ways Judy showed her love for community and those around her. In the late 60’s she became a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts while living in Ottawa. After moving to Paola, Judy joined PEO Chapter DQ holding many positions including President within her 34 years of volunteering. She also participated on the Miami County Hospital Auxiliary. She served as President for six years and remained on the board for several years to follow. Judy dedicated much of her time to volunteering in many activities at the First Baptist Church where she was a member for 50 plus years.
In every aspect of life Judy brought light into people’s lives with an infectious smile that could brighten even the darkest days for those around her. Her laughter was contagious and will forever echo in our hearts as we remember all the moments shared together.
The loss felt by Judy’s passing is immeasurable but so too is the love that remains behind – a testament to how deeply loved and cherished this remarkable woman truly was.
May we find solace knowing that Judy has been reunited with those who have gone before us including Kreston along with three brothers & four sisters who preceded her in death.
As we mourn our loss let us also celebrate Judy's incredible spirit which will live on forever within each person whose life she touched.
Rest peacefully my Mom, my Sister, my Grandma, my Friend until we meet again someday…
Memorials may be made to the PEO Chapter DQ Scholarship Fund.
