Judy M, Jackson, 80, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Friday, February 3, 2023, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, February 15, 2023, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa, Kansas.
Family will meet with friends from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at the mortuary.
Interment Mont Ida Cemetery, Mont. Ida, Kansas.
Judy was born Thursday, April 23, 1942, at Iola, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer E. and Mable M. (Stauffer) Othick.
She lived in the Ottawa/Franklin County area since 1975, moving here from Osawatomie.
Judy was united in marriage to Ira D. Reed on September 27, 1958, in Goodrich, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 21, 1977. She was then united in marriage to Kenneth A. Jackson on January 5, 1983, in Emporia, Kansas. He survives of the home.
She attended several schools around Iola, McLouth, and Winchester, Kansas, receiving her G.E.D. in 1995, the same year that her granddaughter graduated high school.
Judy had various occupations during her lifetime. She was a cook at Kansas University, a seamstress at H.D. Lee and a waitress at several local restaurants. During her marriage to Kenneth, Judy supported his welding business, Jackson Welding as co-owner/operator until their retirement in 2014.
Judy was a quilter and seamstress, making things for all her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking, cooking and collecting glassware. Judy also enjoyed fishing and cruising around the Lake of the Ozarks with Kenneth, her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Ira; parents, Elmer and Mable Othick; sister Virginia Filbert, nephew Darren Othick, an infant granddaughter and grandparents Sam and Cynthia Stauffer.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; children, Sandra Self-Schild (Ray) of Ottawa, Robert Reed of Ottawa, Richard Reed (Karen) of Garnett, and Sheryl Fratiello of Richmond, Tammy Farrar (Jerry) and Kenneth Jackson both of Ottawa; brother Wayne Othick (Nancy) of Baldwin City; and sixteen grandchildren, thirty-four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
