Judith Lynn Fabert

Judith Lynn Ferguson Fabert (Judy), beloved wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 19, 1945, to her parents Sheila (Eoff) and Fred Ferguson in Ottawa, Kansas. Judy is survived by her devoted husband, Bud Fabert, and leaves a lasting legacy through her three sons and their families: Ryon (Frederick, Reanna and Cale, daughters Sheila and Georgia), Corey and Grace (daughters Sophie, Clara, and son Ethan), and Jason and Chris (daughters Lily, Madison, and Jovey). Judy is also survived by three stepchildren and their families, Lucinda and Jason (Nicholas and Jessikah), Lukas and Gayla (KaiLee and BrynLee) and Ginger and Nick (Lily, Levi and Lacy).

Judy grew up in a loving family environment, alongside her two surviving sisters, Peggy (and Mike) and Shari (and Steve). She also had a brother, Terry, who has preceded her in death.

Her early years were marked by a passion for learning, and she attended a country school before transferring to Ottawa public schools in the seventh grade. In 1963, she graduated from Ottawa High School. Afterward, she embarked on a journey that took her to various parts of Kansas, including Manhattan, Overland Park, and Shawnee.

In 1991, Judy married the love of her life, Bud Fabert, and together they built a new home in 1992, on land given to her by her father. Throughout her career, Judy made meaningful contributions in the workplace. She worked for Bird Music, was an assistant manager at Dolgin’s department store, held a position in HR at JCPenney, and later served in HR at Franklin Savings. Her dedication and professionalism continued as she worked at Presbyterian Manor, where she served as HR Director until her well-earned retirement in 2012.

Judy’s adventurous spirit led her to explore the world through travel and camping, and she found joy and fulfillment in the art of quilting. Her love for these activities brought her closer to her family and friends, and her memory will forever be cherished by those lives she touched.

Judy will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, and her memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at Dengel and Son Mortuary in Ottawa, Kansas, at 5:30pm, Wednesday, January 24, 2024.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Good Shepherd Hospice c/o Dengel & Son Mortuary, 235 S. Hickory, Ottawa, Kansas 66067 in honor of Judy’s memory.

Judy will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May she rest in peace, knowing that her love and light will continue to shine through those she leaves behind.
