Judith A. “Judy” Fox, age 74, of Ottawa, Kansas, died Thursday, March 11, 2010. She was born on Monday, January 13, 1936, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was the daughter of John L. Hanscum, Sr. and Loraine B. (Smith) Hanscum. She lived in the Shawnee Mission area most of her life, moving from Overland Park, Kansas to Ottawa in 1993. Judy attended Shawnee Mission High School, later earning her GED. She was a homemaker and worked in administration for Veterans of Foreign Wars headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri; was in sales for Vendo Corporation in Kansas City in the late 1970’s; was owner and operator of Packages Plus in Kansas City in the mid 1980’s and early 1990’s; and was in administration at Baker University in Baldwin in the late 1990’s. She was a member of Ottawa Garden Club; Old Depot Museum; and Ransom Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, all in Ottawa. On October 25, 1952, Judy was united in marriage with Joseph W. Fox in Kansas City, Missouri. They later divorced. she is survived by her Mother-Loraine Hanscum of Ottawa, Kansas Daughter-Cindy Kitts and her husband, Richard, of Kingwood, Texas Daughter-Jennie Stein and her husband, Fred, of Lenexa, Kansas Daughter-Chris Cahill and her husband, Glen, of Ottawa, Kansas Daughter-Wendy Corona and her husband, Jerry, of Kingwood, Texas Daughter-Julie Fox of Olathe, Kansas Brother-John L. Hanscum, Jr. and his wife, Betty, of Kansas City, Kansas Sister-Marti Dobbe of Westwood, Kansas Grandchildren-Eleven Great-Grandchildren-Seven She is preceded in death by her father, John L. Hanscum, Sr. SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Memorial Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, followed by a family visitation.
