Juanita E. Brown, 75, Ottawa, died Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007, at her home. She was born Aug. 5, 1932, at Kansas City, Mo., to Lee Olin and Ethel Catrina (Moorman) Thomas. Juanita moved with her family when she was in the first grade from Kansas City, Kansas to Kansas City, Missouri, and to Ottawa in 1949. She started school in Kansas City, Missouri, attended Shawnee Mission High School through eleventh grade, earning her G.E.D. in 1970. Juanita worked a total of fifteen years as an assembler for King Radio from 1977 until retiring in 1993. She was a member of First Assembly of God Church of Ottawa, past member of Worthwhile EHU, and charter member of Modern Homemakers EHU. On August 5, 1950, Juanita was united in marriage with Dale Dean Brown in Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death August 18, 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca (Brown) Thompson, Lawrence; sons, Thomas Brown, and his wife, Mitze, Ottawa, Clark Brown, New Century, and Kevin Brown and Angela Mundy, Garnett; a sister, Dona Lee Smith, and her husband, Leroy C., Napoleon, Mo.; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at the Dengel & Son Mortuary at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007. IN STATE: Cremation is planned. INURNMENT: Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
