Joyce Jeretta Craig was born on Monday, January 8, 1917, in Linn Creek, Missouri. She was the daughter of Charles Clayton and Gertrude Angeline (Hopkins) Scott. Joyce grew up in Franklin County, Kansas, moving to New Jersey in 1955, and Independence, Missouri in 1970. The past twenty years, Joyce made her home in Spring, Texas, until her death on Sunday, September 2, 2007, at the age of ninety years. Joyce attended Northern Illinois Elementary School in rural Quenemo, Kansas. During World War II, she worked in the assembly line at Sunflower Ammunition plant in Desoto and North American in Kansas City, Missouri. Shortly after, she became a beautician. In the late 1950's, she became a care provider for the elderly, retiring in 1976. On July 29, 1976, Joyce was united in marriage with Ben A. Craig in Independence, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1993. She is also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dan and Norman Scott. She is survived by her son, Clarence Jack Servaes and his wife, Joan, of Spring, Texas; two sisters, Audrey Johnston of Monterrey, California, Icel Halliday and her husband, James, of Arkansas City, Kansas; six brothers, True Roger Scott of Ottawa, Kansas, John Scott and his wife, Eula, of Ottawa, Kansas, Charles Scott and his wife, Judy, of Ottawa, Kansas, Clarence V. Scott of Pomona, Kansas, Benford Scott and his wife, Laura, of Washburn, Missouri, Wallace Scott of Golden City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Pamela Kjellman and her husband, Dan, Jack Michael Servaes and his wife, Rachel, Barbara Hanuscin and her husband, Jay; three great-grandchildren, Andrea Jenkins, Jack Michael Servaes, Jr., Sarah J. Matthews; and one great-great-granddaughter, Cassandra Jenkins. SERVICES: Funeral services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 2:00 pm, Friday, September 7, 2007. IN STATE: Friends may pay their respects to Mrs. Craig at Dengel & Son Mortuary after 1:00 pm Thursday to the service hour,where the family will meet with friends from 7 to 8 Thursday evening.
