Joshua James "Josh" Ferris

Joshua James “Josh” Ferris, 30, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021, at AdventHealth of Shawnee Mission. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 17, 2021, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Pomona, Kansas. Family will meet with friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, December 16, 2021, at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Josh was born June 12, 1991, in Ottawa, Kansas, the son of Rolland and Kimberley (Kirkland) Ferris III. He lived in Ottawa since 2014 moving from Pomona. Josh graduated from Pomona High School with the class of 2009. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in criminal law from Washburn University and was working on his masters at Neosho Community College. He was a correctional officer at Johnson County Adult Residential Center for two and a half years and was a supervisor at Walmart for the last 11 years. Josh was a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma fraternity at Washburn University. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kimberley. Survivors include his father, Rolland Ferris III of Pomona; maternal grandmother, Cecelia Kirkland of Wisconsin; fiancé, Derrick Plummer of Ottawa; brother, Dustin Ferris (Amber) of Pomona; a nephew Brise Ferris and niece Kyah Ferris both of Pomona. Josh enjoyed bowling and going to the Kansas City Zoo. He especially loved to travel and spend time with his family and friends.
