Josephine Elizabeth (Beck) Detmering

Josephine Elizabeth (Beck) Detmering, 104, of Fontana, Kansas, died February 7, 2013, at North Point Skilled Nursing Center, Paola, Kansas. Josephine was born September 20, 1908, the daughter of Charles D. and Lillie Mae (Guthrie) Beck in Fontana, Kansas. She graduated from Fontana High School in 1927. Josephine then worked in Kansas City, Missouri for two years. She returned to Fontana to marry Sub Detmering on August 7, 1929. Josephine was baptized in 1920 and has been a faithful member of the Church of Christ " Fontana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest Theodore "Sub" Detmering, a daughter Martha Jo Watson, three brothers Guy, Chester, and Kenneth Beck, and one sister Lenora Barnhart. Survivors include her daughter Beverly June Mills and husband Eldon of Osawatomie; son-in-law Harold Watson and wife Shirley of LaCygne; 7 grandchildren Linda Mills of Omaha, NE, Richard Watson and wife Frances of Fontana, Kathy (Mills) Valentine and husband Jerry of Fort Scott, Sharon (Mills) Hurt and husband Dennis of LaCygne, Debbie (Watson) Burchett and husband Wayne of Fontana, Barbie (Watson) Feldman and husband Michael of LaCygne, and Susie (Watson) Jones and husband Doug of Osawatomie. Grandma Jo Jo"s survivors also include 16 great grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren, and one great-great-great grandchild. She will also be missed by special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family suggests memorials to the Church of Christ Fontana or VITAS Hospice.
