Joseph Raymond Mock was born April 10, 1913, at Imes, Kansas. He was the son of George and Mary (Imes) Mock. He lived in Rantoul, Kansas several years, moving to his farm in Wellsville, north of Ottawa, in Franklin County, Kansas, where he made his home for fifty years, until his death Monday, March 25, 2002, at the age of eighty-eight years. Joseph graduated from Rantoul High School with the class of 1932. He was a lifelong farmer. He also worked as a finish carpenter for many years during the 1950's and 1960's in the Lawrence, Kansas area. He was a member of Tauy Baptist Church. He was an avid sports fan of the Jayhawks, Chiefs, and Royals. He was very athletic and enjoyed playing basketball, baseball, softball, and tennis. Most important to Joseph were his family and grandchildren and spending time with them. On September 23, 1936, Joseph was united in marriage with Alma F. Ball in Missouri. She survives of their home. Also, surviving are two daughters, Kay Falley of Topeka, Karen Sue Kelsey and her husband, Basil W. 'Buzz', of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; two granddaughters, Christina Falley, Elizabeth Kelsey; grandson, Christopher Kelsey; great-grandson, Logan Falley; and, great-granddaughter, Emma Falley. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Phyllis Williams; and, two brothers, Glen Mock and Harmond Mock. SERVICES: Memorial services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 2002. Mr. Mock was cremated. OFFICIANT: Dr. Charles Anderson.
