Joseph Anthony Manna, age 67, of Pomona, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2009, at his residence. Joe, as he was known to many, was born on Tuesday, March 17, 1942, in Boston, Massachusetts. He was the son of Joseph F. and Donalene (Dowell) Manna. Joe grew up in Boston, moving to Dodge City, Kansas in 1965, where he met his wife, Aldia. In 1970, Joe moved to Pomona, where he raised his family. Joe graduated from English High School in Boston, Massachusetts with the class of 1958. He attended a community college in Dodge City and, later, Topeka, Kansas, obtaining an A.S. Degree in Civil Engineering. Joe worked numerous jobs within the Franklin County area until gaining employment with Johnson County Public Works, as Road and Bridge Inspector, where he retired after twenty plus year’s service. He was a member of Pomona Jaycees. On December 10, 1971, Joe was united in marriage with Aldia Kay Pearson in Ottawa, Kansas. She survives of their home. He is survived by: Wife-Aldia Kay (Pearson) Manna of the home, Daughter-Toni Blodgett of Ottawa, Kansas, Son-Darrin D. Manna and his wife, Rachel, of Overland Park, Kansas, Dear Friend-Patty Frazier of East Boston, Massachusetts. Joseph is preceded in death by his: Father-Joseph F. Manna, Mother-Donalene Manna, Son-in-law-Amos Blodgett. SERVICES: Cremation is planned. Memorial Services will be held from the Dengel & Son Mortuary in Ottawa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009. Family will meet with friends following Services.
